Jan Boonen

I have been working at Oracle for over 24 years, currently at North America Cloud Specialist team. I was one of the very first employee representatives in both OR and CPBW. In those 24 years, the company has changed enormously, we work much more remotely and self-service is now the norm for everything. Despite all the changes, we still managed to improve and safeguard the employees’ rights as much as possible. At Oracle we have achieved a lot of things already:

• Extension of the health benefits
• A good collective agreement on dismissal
• A good way to make sure there is equal pay for men and women
• OraClub that can organize events for the employees and their family

I’m probably forgetting a lot of other achievements. Trade union work unfortunately is sometimes not thinking about new things for the people you represent but working really hard to keep what you have. Keeping what we have will be the big challenge the next 4 years.
